The Tavan Bogd Mountain Range in Mongolia, home to the highest peak in Mongolia, Mount Khuiten (4,374 meters), is a treasure trove of natural wonders. Surrounding this region are the pristine lakes of Khoton, Khurgan, and Dayan, as well as the Botaniin Glacier. This national park is a sanctuary for a diverse array of wildlife, including rare species such as the snow leopard, ibex, and red deer. Additionally, the rock art of the Mongol Altai Mountain Range is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, captivating visitors with its ancient relics and murals.

The area is inhabited by various ethnic minorities, each preserving their unique culture and traditions. The term "Tavan Bogd" refers to the five sacred peaks, including Mount Khuiten, each symbolizing different aspects such as cold, friendship, the golden eagle, pastoral life, and the cradle of life.

This tour offers an opportunity to experience the lifestyle of nomads, explore Mongolia’s rich history and culture, and enjoy the beauty of the natural landscape. It includes the chance to engage with the Kazakh eagle hunters and partake in mountaineering activities on peaks such as Mount Khuiten and Malchin. The itinerary is flexible and can be customized to suit individual preferences. There is no need to bring your own climbing gear or sleeping bags from Japan, as we will provide these essentials, though you are welcome to bring any personal items you prefer.

Due to the high altitude , weather conditions can be highly unpredictable. While we aim to complete the climb, it is important to note that reaching the peak may not always be possible if adverse weather affects the schedule

Arrive on MIAT Mongolian Airlines direct flight from Narita, departing at 14:30 and arriving in Ulaanbaatar at 19:00. After clearing immigration and collecting your luggage at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, you will be greeted by a English-speaking guide. You will then be transferred by private vehicle to your hotel in Ulaanbaatar (approximately 1 hour 40 minutes drive).

Travel with the English climbing guide to Chinggis Khaan International Airport for a domestic flight to Ulgii, the capital of Bayan-Ulgii Province in western Mongolia. Please note that the domestic flight has a luggage weight limit of 15 kg (10 kg for checked baggage and 5 kg for carry-on). Excess baggage is charged at around $1 usd per kg. Upon arrival, transfer by private vehicle to Tavan Bogd National Park (Tsagaan Gol). (No shower facilities available).

After breakfast, trek from the park gate to the base camp (elevation 3040 meters) by horse or on foot (5-6 hours). Enjoy the views of glaciers and alpine flora along the way (horseback riding is not recommended). Bring hiking boots, gaiters, a rain jacket, water, and snacks. Trekking poles are also useful. The area is adorned with various flowers such as poppies, edelweiss, and saxifrage. Temperature is approximately 10°C.

After breakfast, embark on a hike to Martin Peak (4050 meters) at 8:00 AM (crampons not required). The hike takes about 5-6 hours. On the way back, visit the first border post of Mongolia. Return to base camp for dinner (total hike duration: 10-12 hours). Tent shower facilities are available.

After breakfast, head towards the high camp (HC) at the base of Khuiten Peak (elevation 4374 meters) with crampons. Cross the moraine and gradually ascend the glacier to 3600 meters (5-6 hours). After arriving, rest and prepare for the next day. It is recommended to bring your own food according to personal preferences. The high camp toilet is portable; please use it with a plastic bag and carry it back to base camp. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

At 3:30 AM, check the weather forecast for Khuiten Peak (4374 meters) and decide if the summit attempt is feasible. Climb to the summit and return to base camp (10-12 hours). Necessary equipment includes crampons, harness, ice axe, and carabiners. Elevation: 3050 meters; Distance: 15 km.

After breakfast, trek or ride horses from base camp to the gate of Tavan Bogd National Park (Tsagaan Gol). Along the way, visit Tsagaan Valley and its waterfalls. Descend to 2600 meters (18 km, 7-9 hours). Upon arrival at the vehicle, visit a local nomadic ger to sample traditional tea and dairy products, then transfer to the camp near the lake for an overnight stay. Camp on a high ground near the lake with views of the Tavan Bogd mountains.

After breakfast, while the camp is being packed up, observe the famous Shiveet Mountain petroglyphs. Proceed to Khoton Lake, enjoying a riverside picnic lunch along the way. After setting up camp by the lake, enjoy dinner and relax by the lakeside.

After breakfast at camp, visit a Kazakh ger to interact with eagles and capture memorable photos. Later, visit Bagaturgen Waterfall (a 35-minute walk). Return to the camp for lunch and then transfer by private vehicle to Ulgii, the central town of Bayan-Ulgii Province. Enjoy dinner at a restaurant and traditional music performance.

After breakfast at the hotel, be transferred to Ulgii Airport for your flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar after a 2.5-hour flight. Spend the remaining time shopping or sightseeing in the city with your guide and private vehicle.
