Important Information

Summit Priority

The primary objective of this expedition is to reach the summit of Khuiten Peak (4,374 m) safely.

Weather and mountain conditions in the Altai can change rapidly. If conditions are not suitable for a safe summit attempt, we may use the designated reserve day or adjust the itinerary to allow a suitable weather window.

The final decision regarding summit attempts will always be based on safety, weather, mountain conditions and the professional judgment of our mountain guides.

Our itinerary is designed with flexibility so that we can prioritize the summit without rushing the climb.

Domestic Flights: Ulaanbaatar – Ölgii

Domestic flights between Ulaanbaatar and Ölgii operate according to the airline's seasonal schedule.

Flight frequency and operating days may vary depending on the travel season, airline operations and weather conditions.

Flight duration:
Approximately 1 hour 20 minutes from Ulaanbaatar to Ölgii. Return flight times may vary depending on the aircraft, route and operating conditions.

Baggage Allowance

Domestic flights generally have a limited baggage allowance. The exact allowance depends on the airline and fare conditions.

We recommend keeping your main luggage within the airline's permitted limit and bringing only essential items on the domestic flight.

Excess baggage: Additional charges may apply if your baggage exceeds the permitted allowance. Any applicable fees are paid directly to the airline.

Itinerary Flexibility

Because domestic flights, weather and mountain conditions can affect the expedition schedule, the itinerary is subject to change.

Flight times may be adjusted, and certain activities or overnight locations may be rearranged when necessary.

If additional time is required for the Khuiten Peak summit attempt, the reserve day will be used accordingly.

If the summit is successfully completed within the planned schedule, the additional flexibility may instead be used for rest and exploration around Khoton & Khurgan Lakes.

All itinerary adjustments will be made with the safety and overall experience of the group as the priority.

Early Morning: Acclimatization Ascent

At the Summit
From the summit at approximately 4,050 metres, enjoy panoramic views across the dramatic Altai landscape and toward the borders of Mongolia and Russia.
Descent to Base Camp
After spending some time at the summit, descend back to the base camp.
The round trip takes approximately 10–12 hours, depending on weather, trail conditions and group pace.
After returning to camp, enjoy a warm dinner and rest well. The expedition team will monitor everyone's condition as we prepare for the upcoming Khuiten Peak summit attempt.
