Welcome to Northern Mongolia
Morning / Arrival: Domestic Flight to Murun
Upon arrival in Mongolia, we will arrange your transfer to Chinggis Khaan International Airport for your domestic flight to Murun. The flight takes approximately 1.5 hours.
If your international flight schedule requires a different arrangement, the itinerary can be adjusted accordingly.
Midday: Murun to Khatgal
Upon arrival in Murun, your driver and English-speaking guide will meet you at the airport. From there, we travel by private vehicle toward Khatgal village, the main gateway to Lake Khövsgöl.
Along the way, we stop for lunch and continue north through the open landscapes and mountain scenery of Khövsgöl Province.
Afternoon: Arrive at Lake Khövsgöl
Arrive at our tourist camp near the shores of Lake Khövsgöl and settle into your traditional Mongolian ger.
Take some time to rest after the journey and enjoy your first views of the “Blue Pearl of Mongolia.”
Depending on the location and conditions, facilities such as a hot shower, portable power station, eco-friendly toilet and Starlink internet may be available at the camp.
Evening: Lakeside Walk & Dinner
Take a relaxing walk along the lakeshore and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of northern Mongolia.
Dinner will be prepared by our cook using locally available ingredients, with both Mongolian and familiar international-style dishes where possible.
Night: Under the Mongolian Stars
After dinner, enjoy the quiet night and, weather permitting, the spectacular star-filled sky over Lake Khövsgöl.
Rest in your ger and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Morning: Boat Trip on Lake Khövsgöl
After breakfast, we set out to explore the clear waters of Lake Khövsgöl by boat.
Depending on weather and lake conditions, we travel across the lake and visit Khadankhui Island, a rocky island surrounded by the deep blue waters of Khövsgöl.
From the boat, enjoy wide views of the lake, surrounding forests and the Sayan Mountains.
The calm waters and untouched landscape offer excellent opportunities for photography and simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of northern Mongolia.
Midday: Lakeside Lunch
We return to the lakeshore and enjoy lunch prepared by our cook.
Rather than following a fixed restaurant-style menu, our meals are prepared according to the conditions and available local ingredients during the journey.
Afternoon: Free Time by the Lake
The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace.
You can walk along the lakeshore, take photographs, relax by the water, or simply enjoy the surrounding nature.
For guests who would like some additional activities, optional arrangements may be possible depending on the season and local conditions.
Evening: Sunset & Camp Life
As evening approaches, return to the camp and enjoy the changing colors of Lake Khövsgöl as the sun goes down.
If conditions allow, we can prepare a campfire and spend the evening outdoors, enjoying the quiet atmosphere of the lake and the surrounding wilderness.
On clear nights, the stars over northern Mongolia provide a spectacular end to the day.

Morning: Experience Mongolian Nomadic Life
After breakfast, we visit a local nomadic family living in the Khövsgöl region.
This is an opportunity to experience everyday Mongolian nomadic life and learn how families live in harmony with their animals and the changing seasons.
Depending on the season and the family’s daily activities, guests may have the opportunity to observe or participate in simple traditional activities such as milking animals, preparing dairy products, or caring for livestock.
You can also taste traditional Mongolian dairy products and Mongolian tea while talking with the family about their way of life and seasonal movements.
Midday: Traditional Mongolian Lunch
After the visit, we return to the camp for lunch.
Depending on the group and local arrangements, a traditional Mongolian dish such as Khorkhog may be prepared using locally sourced meat and traditional cooking methods.
Afternoon: Horseback Riding Through the Forest
In the afternoon, experience the beautiful surroundings of Lake Khövsgöl on horseback.
The trail takes us through larch forests, open mountain landscapes and areas near the lakeshore, depending on local conditions.
Horse riding is arranged according to the guests’ experience level, with horses selected appropriately for beginners and experienced riders.
Our horse guide will accompany the group throughout the ride and provide basic instructions before departure.
Riding time: approximately 1.5–2 hours, depending on the route, weather and group conditions.
Late Afternoon: Return to Camp
After the horseback ride, return to the camp and enjoy some free time to rest.
If a shower is requested and conditions allow, we can prepare our portable shower system at the appropriate location.
Other expedition facilities, such as portable power stations or Starlink internet, are provided where available and depending on the campsite and local conditions.
Evening: Quiet Night by the Lake
Enjoy dinner at the camp and spend a peaceful evening surrounded by the forests and mountains of Khövsgöl.
On a clear night, step outside to enjoy the stars and the quiet atmosphere of northern Mongolia.

Morning: Mongolian Deel Experience
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning at the camp.
Guests who are interested can try on a traditional Mongolian Deel and take photographs in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Khövsgöl.
If you would like to have a Deel specially made for you, this can be arranged in advance upon request. The cost and preparation time depend on the design and materials selected.
Our guide can also explain the meaning and traditional use of Mongolian clothing and patterns.
Midday: Lunch by the Lake
Enjoy lunch at the camp or at a suitable location near the lake, depending on the day’s arrangements and weather conditions.
After lunch, take some time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Afternoon: Free Time in Khatgal
The afternoon is free for you to explore the area at your own pace.
Depending on the season and opening hours, you may visit local shops and small artisan stores in Khatgal, where you can look for handmade souvenirs, felt products, cashmere and other Mongolian goods.
Alternatively, simply relax at the camp and enjoy your final afternoon beside Lake Khövsgöl.
Portable power stations are available at our camps to help you charge cameras, phones and other essential devices. Starlink internet may also be available at selected locations, depending on conditions.
If you would like to take a shower, our portable shower system can be prepared on request, allowing you to refresh before the next day’s journey.
Evening: Farewell to the Blue Pearl
Enjoy your final dinner surrounded by the forests and mountains of northern Mongolia.
Take one last walk by the lakeshore and enjoy the changing colors of the evening sky.
On a clear night, the stars over Lake Khövsgöl offer a memorable final evening before your journey back south.

Morning: Farewell to Lake Khövsgöl
After breakfast, we say goodbye to Lake Khövsgöl and begin our journey back toward Murun.
Before leaving the region, take some final photographs and enjoy the last views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
Midday: Uushgiin Uvur Deer Stones
On the way to Murun, we visit Uushgiin Uvur Deer Stones, one of the important archaeological sites in Khövsgöl Province.
The site features ancient Bronze Age deer stones, decorated with distinctive images of flying deer and other symbols associated with the beliefs and traditions of ancient nomadic cultures.
Your guide will introduce you to the history and significance of the site and explain what is known about these remarkable monuments.
Afternoon: Murun & Domestic Flight
After visiting Uushgiin Uvur, we continue to Murun, the provincial capital of Khövsgöl.
Depending on the flight schedule, there may be time for lunch or a short stop in the city before heading to the airport.
Your guide will assist you at Murun Airport before your domestic flight back to Ulaanbaatar.
Evening: Return to Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, our team will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.
Your Khövsgöl adventure comes to an end, with the memories of the Blue Pearl of Mongolia accompanying you home.
