To reach Khagiin Khar Lake, located approximately 90 km straight from Ulaanbaatar, the only options are by helicopter, horseback, or on foot. This ensures that the natural beauty and wildlife of the area remain largely untouched. Despite the challenges of the journey, the breathtaking scenery will make you forget your fatigue. There are several routes to the lake; for a shorter trip, the Galtai Burnai route is recommended. If walking is strenuous, you can opt to use a personal horse for an additional ¥10,000, making the journey more comfortable. Khagiin Khar Lake is one of the most beautiful spots in Mongolia, where you can encounter wildlife such as deer, wolves, bears, cougars, and minks, who are unafraid of humans. The path to the lake includes forests, marshlands, streams, fallen trees, and rivers, offering a rewarding experience despite some obstacles. It is said in Mongolia that this trek is "hell for the feet, but heaven for the heart." Why not embark on this journey to paradise?
This tour is recommended only for those confident in their physical fitness. The trek is conducted entirely in the wilderness, with no shelter from rain or wind. The paths are wide enough for horses and hikers, though you may occasionally cross marshes. Gaiters and hiking shoes are essential. You should bring boots, gaiters, sandals for river crossings, a raincoat, and a backpack. The backpack should contain water, a raincoat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, snacks, and other essentials. During summer, mosquitoes and flies are prevalent, so take appropriate measures. The temperature can drop in the morning and evening, so warm clothing is also necessary. For horseback riders, boots or long boots are required. Our staff will do their utmost to ensure a comfortable journey.
