The Journey to an Untouched Paradise
Located approximately 90 km from Ulaanbaatar, Khagiin Khar Lake remains one of Mongolia’s most pristine and inaccessible wonders. With no roads leading to its shores, the lake is reachable only by helicopter, horseback, or on foot. This isolation has preserved its breathtaking natural beauty and thriving wildlife, making it a true sanctuary for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
"It is hell for the feet, but heaven for the heart." — Mongolian Proverb
What to Expect
The Route: We utilize the Galtai Burnai route, the most efficient path to the lake. Your journey will take you through dense Siberian taiga forests, vast marshlands, crystal-clear streams, and rugged river crossings.
Wildlife Encounters: The region is a haven for Red Deer, Wolves, Brown Bears, and Minks. These animals, rarely seeing humans, offer a unique and raw opportunity for wildlife observation and photography.
Optional Comfort: If the trek becomes too strenuous, a personal support horse is available for an additional ¥10,000, allowing you to enjoy the scenery with greater ease.
Important Expedition Details
Note: This tour is exclusively recommended for individuals with good physical fitness. You will be trekking through raw wilderness with no permanent shelters from rain or wind.
The Terrain: Expect wide trails shared by horses and hikers. Be prepared for frequent marsh crossings and navigating fallen trees.

The Weather: Even in the peak of summer, temperatures can drop sharply in the mornings and evenings. High-quality layers are essential.

Insect Protection: Summer in the taiga brings a high volume of mosquitoes and flies. Professional-grade repellent and protective clothing are vital.

Essential Packing List
Footwear: Broken-in hiking boots and Gaiters (mandatory for marshy sections).

Clothing: Sandals for river crossings, a high-quality raincoat, and warm base layers.

Essentials: A 25–35L daypack, polarized sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, and personal snacks.
