Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
Upon arrival at Chinggis Khaan International Airport, our team will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Ulaanbaatar.
After check-in, you will have time to rest and prepare for the expedition ahead.
In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with your guide and expedition team. We will go over the itinerary, introduce the team and provide a briefing about the journey to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.
Overnight in Ulaanbaatar
Stay at a comfortable hotel and enjoy a good night's rest before the expedition begins.

Morning: Flight to Bayan-Ölgii
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight from Ulaanbaatar to Ölgii, the capital of Bayan-Ölgii Province.
The flight takes approximately 2–2.5 hours, depending on the flight schedule.
Upon arrival, your local driver and guide will meet you at Ölgii Airport.
Afternoon: Discover Bayan-Ölgii
Take some time to explore Ölgii and learn about the unique culture of western Mongolia.
Depending on the schedule, we may visit the Bayan-Ölgii Provincial Museum and a local market.
This region is home to Mongolia's Kazakh community and is particularly known for its rich traditions of eagle hunting, Kazakh culture and craftsmanship.
You will also meet members of our local expedition team and prepare for the journey into Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.
Evening: Expedition Preparation
Enjoy dinner and spend the night in Ölgii before heading deeper into the Altai Mountains.
This is also an opportunity to check your personal equipment and prepare your luggage for the upcoming expedition.

Morning: Journey into the Altai
After breakfast, we leave Ölgii and begin our journey toward Tsagaan Gol (White River Valley), the gateway to the Altai Tavan Bogd region.
We travel by private 4WD vehicle through rugged mountain roads, wide valleys and high mountain passes. The journey takes approximately 6–7 hours, depending on road and weather conditions.
Afternoon: Arrival at Tsagaan Gol
Arrive in the Tsagaan Gol Valley, an isolated mountain region surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the Altai.
The area is home to local Tuvan nomadic families, whose traditional way of life continues in this remote part of Mongolia.
After arrival, our expedition team will set up the camp and prepare everything for the days ahead.
Evening: Expedition Camp
Settle into your expedition tent and enjoy a warm dinner prepared by our cook.
Depending on the campsite and conditions, portable power, shower facilities and an eco-friendly toilet may be available.
Rest well before the trekking section of the expedition begins.

Morning: Into the High Altai
After breakfast, we begin our trek from Tsagaan Gol toward the Altai Base Camp, gradually gaining altitude as we move deeper into the mountains.
The trail leads through wide valleys and increasingly rugged alpine terrain, with spectacular views of the Altai Tavan Bogd's five sacred peaks along the way.
Your main luggage and group equipment will be transported by pack camels, allowing you to trek with only the personal items you need during the day.
Afternoon: Approaching Base Camp
After approximately 6–8 hours of trekking, we reach the high-altitude base camp at around 3,040 metres.
Take time to settle into your expedition tent, rest and enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery. Our cook will prepare a warm dinner at camp.
Evening: Life at High Altitude
As we are now deep in the Altai wilderness, facilities depend on the campsite, weather and operating conditions.
Portable power and satellite internet may be available at the base camp, allowing you to charge essential devices and stay connected when conditions permit.
Rest early and prepare for the next stage of the expedition.

Morning: Trek to Potanin Glacier
After breakfast, we leave the base camp and trek toward the Potanin Glacier, one of the most impressive glaciers in the Altai Tavan Bogd region.
As we approach the glacier, the landscape changes dramatically, with vast ice fields, rocky mountain slopes and spectacular views of the surrounding peaks.
Depending on weather, terrain and safety conditions, we explore the glacier area and its surroundings with our experienced expedition team.
Glacier Experience
The glacier environment is constantly changing. Crevasses, loose rocks, ice and weather conditions can make certain areas unsafe, so the exact route will be determined by the guide on the day.
If conditions allow, we may walk on suitable sections of the glacier using the appropriate safety equipment.
Afternoon: Return to Base Camp
After approximately 4–5 hours of trekking, we return to the base camp.
Enjoy a warm meal prepared by our expedition cook and take time to rest after the day's adventure.
If conditions and campsite facilities permit, a hot shower may be prepared at the base camp.
Evening: Mountain Night
Spend a quiet evening at the high-altitude camp, surrounded by the mountains and vast wilderness of the Altai.
Rest in your expedition tent and prepare for the next day's summit attempt.

Early Morning: Summit Attempt
After an early breakfast, we begin our ascent from the Altai Base Camp toward Malchin Peak (4,050 m).
Malchin Peak is one of the most accessible summits in the Altai Tavan Bogd region, with no technical climbing required under normal conditions. However, the ascent is physically demanding due to the altitude, changing weather and rugged mountain terrain.
Our experienced guide will set the pace according to the group's condition and the weather.
Reaching the Summit
After approximately 7–9 hours of trekking, including the ascent and descent, we aim to reach the summit at 4,050 metres.
From the summit, enjoy spectacular views across the Altai Mountains and toward the Altai Republic of Russia.
Take time to celebrate the achievement and capture photographs before beginning the descent.
Afternoon: Return to Base Camp
We descend approximately 950 metres back to the base camp.
After a long day in the mountains, enjoy a warm dinner prepared by our expedition cook and take time to rest.
Evening: Summit Celebration
Celebrate your summit achievement with the expedition team and fellow travelers.
Satellite internet and portable charging facilities may be available at the base camp, depending on conditions, giving you an opportunity to share your summit photos with family and friends.

Morning: Descending from Base Camp
After breakfast, we leave the Altai Base Camp and begin our descent toward the Tsagaan Gol (White River) Valley.
The trail gradually descends from the high-altitude mountain environment into the lower valley, offering a different perspective of the Altai landscape.
After several days at high altitude, today's descent provides an opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed pace while taking in the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Along the Way: Ancient Rock Art
Depending on the route and local conditions, we may visit ancient petroglyphs and cultural sites in the valley.
Our local guides will introduce you to the history and traditions associated with this remote region and its nomadic communities.
Afternoon: Return to the Valley
After approximately 6 hours of trekking, we arrive back in the Tsagaan Gol area.
The expedition team will prepare the campsite while our cook prepares a warm dinner.
Evening: Wilderness Camp
Enjoy your final evening surrounded by the mountains and open landscape of the Altai.
If campsite facilities and conditions permit, a portable shower and other comfort facilities may be prepared.
Take the evening to rest and reflect on the summit experience before leaving the wilderness the following day.

Morning: Return to Ölgii
After breakfast, we leave the Tsagaan Gol Valley and begin our journey back to Ölgii, the capital of Bayan-Ölgii Province.
We travel by 4WD through the mountain valleys and open landscapes of western Mongolia, gradually leaving the remote wilderness behind.
Afternoon: Meet a Kazakh Eagle Hunter
Upon returning to the Ölgii area, visit a local Kazakh eagle hunter and his family.
Learn about the traditional practice of hunting with golden eagles, a cultural heritage that has been passed down through generations among the Kazakh people of western Mongolia.
Depending on the family's availability and weather conditions, you may have the opportunity to see the eagle up close and learn about the equipment, training and relationship between the hunter and his bird.
Evening: Farewell to the Altai
After several days in the mountains, enjoy a comfortable evening in Ölgii.
Dinner will be served at a local restaurant or prepared at the accommodation, depending on the itinerary.
Take time to rest, reorganize your luggage and prepare for the return flight to Ulaanbaatar the following day.

After several days in the remote Altai Mountains, enjoy some free time in the capital.
Depending on your interests and available time, you may visit local cashmere shops, department stores or cultural attractions.
You can also use this time to rest, reorganize your luggage and enjoy the conveniences of the city.
Evening: Farewell Dinner
In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner featuring traditional Mongolian cuisine.
Depending on the schedule and venue, you may also have the opportunity to experience Mongolian traditional music, including throat singing (Khöömii).

Return to your comfortable hotel and enjoy a restful night before your international departure.
